The exhibition will be held in public spaces in Kyoto City during an international photography festival, which will be held in Kyoto City from April to May 2024.
Eligibility
- Entrants must be aged 50 or older as of 1 January 2024.
- Open to all regardless of nationality, education or professional experience.
- Photo series or video on a single theme that can be posted on our website.
Selection process
- Submit a written text of up to 10 pages written in any widely available file format.
- The deadline of application is 23:59, Wednesday 31 January. After selection process by executive committee, selected works will be announced on the website on February 9.
- Selection will be based not only on aesthetic and technical accomplishment, but also give due consideration to pioneering viewpoints and social messages.

- Please include the following details in your text:
[1]Artist name, brief self-introduction and curriculum vitae (up to 500 characters in Japanese, 1500 letters in English)
[2]Creative motivation (up to 500 characters in Japanese, 1500 letters in English)
[3]Explanation of photo series or video subject matter and theme (up to 500 characters in Japanese, 1500 letters in English)
[4]Up to titled 10 images
If you apply with photo works, all images should pertain to thesame theme.
If you apply with a video work, you should submit still images of selected scenes. Include a link to the full video uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo in private viewing mode.

- Submissions are limited to one theme per entry.
- Any imaging equipment can be used, even built-in cameras of mobile phones or tablets.
- One person may submit up to three themes, with separate texts and entry forms for each.

Entry is completed by an email sent by the FOTOZOFIO Office after payment has been confirmed. Please make your payment by the application deadline. (It may take up to one week to confirm payment. If you have not received an email after one week from payment, please contact the FOTOZOFIO Office).

Entry rules and disclaimers
- Submitted works, in accordance with the entry guidelines, shall be limited to photographic images or digital data made by and/or copyrighted by the applicant.
- Submitted works may be new or old. Works previously exhibited or shown on other media are also eligible.
- Works using materials from other sources should state their provenance, as well as a description of how the materials were edited and/or processed (e.g. "image source: website name/URL"). Applicants should try to obtain permission from the original rights-holders.
- Any third party claim of infringement of rights or damages shall be the sole responsibility of the applicant. FOTOZOFIO and its affiliates shall bear no responsibility for rectifying disputes.
- FOTOZOFIO will not respond to any inquiry about selection results.
- Entries containing malware, potentially harmful programming or other threatening contents will be immediately disqualified.
- Applicants grant FOTOZOFIO permission to use submitted images free of charge for promotional purposes on the FOTOZOFIO website, printed materials, etc.
- FOTOZOFIO may ask applicants to edit their texts for posting on the website.
- FOTOZOFIO will endeavor to prevent wrongful access to or loss of individual data, and take all necessary measures to stop destruction, alteration or leaking of private information. Any individual data no longer needed will be promptly deleted and/or erased.
- Once paid, entry fees are non-refundable.
